Icon Colours was created by TechieShep
Hello!
We have now started to colour code our seating plans more effectively throughout my school so there is more consistence. I then created a school build with all the pupil information in it for others to use as their starting point for the year. The issue I had was that the colour coding needed icons on the seating plan, and rather than being able to use just coloured dots or squares, I had to use odd icons and then make a separate key so others understood the code - which was as close as possible to the colours given by our maangement team.
My question is - will there be options to just use a circle/square and define it's colour, so that a whole school system can be used in iDoceo? Or am I not looking in the correct places in iDoceo?
I am pushing for the school to purchase iDoceo for all staff. We LOVE it!!!!
Thanks
V

Hello,
Would it work for you to apply a colour to the frame, instead of an icon?
Make sure this option is disabled so that the colour does not affect the gradebook:
iDoceo's main screen > Settings > Seating plan > Frame color is linked to grade book
If, on the other hand, you still want to work with icons and have a limited set of colours for those squares/circles send us the list and we will add them in our next update.

Thank you for the reply.
The issue is that one child might be under a number of different safeguarding issues, e.g. Young Carer, Child Protection, Risk of Exclusion etc, and will need a number of colours attached to them, hence the reason for using icons, as one set colour will not cover all the areas needed to be highlighted.
Are there any other ideas that could help?
Thanks

Maybe working with iDoceo's badge mode explained here would help
www.idoceo.net/index.php/en/seating-plan...g-plan-in-badge-mode
You will be able to show up to 6 gradebook columns and could work with Text instead of just icons.
Anyway, let me know the colour codes and icons you would need and I will them to the list

I do use the badge mode as this enables multiple colour coding (via the icons) on the plan.
The first image attached is our new system of colour coding. The icons next to each colour are the ones I have put in place that best matches the colour. One child might have SEN needs, be a Pupil Premium student and have medical requirements, and a young Carer. I made a single column that has the icons in relating to the child, so on the seating plan it only takes up one field on the badge area, as their current level, required support, reading levels, notes etc also have to be on the badge (see example on image 2).
I have been using iDoceo for years now, and I have not come across the ability to specify a certain colour as a type of plain icon anywhere. It looks like I am using the limits of the app in it's current version. Maybe this is something a next version could look towards doing as I have many staff with the same issue, and we are hoping to use iDoceo as the main teachers tool, not just in our school, but across the Learning Trust of multiple schools.
Thanks again.
