Surname woes (no commas) was created by BruceP
I would like the ability to import "Smith, John" into iDoceo and have ALL my class lists display with surname first.
The problem comes in with surnames like "van der Steen" and the like... iDoceo tags this as Name 1, Name 2, and Name 3 fields.
Suggestion: if iDoceo sees a comma in the student name, the entire Name1 field should be up to that first comma.
Additionally, I like to tag someone with an English name, like "Kwok, Jinyang (Mary)" all in their name field. This combination of legal & preferred name totally messes with iDoceo's handlling of name fields for sorting.

Hello BruceP,
Handling those automatically is always a complex issue. Here is a manual workaround that will let you configure it as you need it.
- You should sort automatically and then you will have to rearrange the 'difficult cases' manually with the Tools (top bar) > Students option.
Here is how to do it
- You can create a new 'Preferred name' field in iDoceo. The steps explained here . Once created you will be able to import it with a CSV or XLS file.
Similarly, you could create a surname / lastname field.
- The grade book will let you show any personal field instead of the default Name and group. You can add here the 'Preferred name' you created in the previous step. If you tap on three dots (top bar right corner) > Personal data you will see how it works.
