Lesson Planner, Templates and Backing Up was created by purplepossum
Hi Bert,

I just had to email you to tell you that I just introduced idoceo to my staff and they are pumped and ready to use it!! They had a ball playing with the app and were coming up with some incredibly clever ideas for using it, so I'm very excited to see what happens throughout the year!!

We have had a few hiccups however that I'm hoping you can answer...
- The lesson planner: The way I installed classes to teachers ipads was to create a master CSV of year levels, and then install that particular year level via dropbox. The problem however, is that when a teacher adds information to their lesson planner, because it is linked as such to the same template in dropbox, their information is displayed on everyone else's lesson planner. I figured if I just unlink to dropbox, that would fix the problem, but then I can't backup. Any ideas?
- Templates: does the new version have the capacity to create a template and email or save it to be applied on another teacher's ipad?
- Backups: I noticed it still only timstamps the backup. Will there be an option coming whereby teachers can choose a filename for their backup?

Thanks so much for all your hardwork Bert! This app just keeps getting better and better!!

Hi purplepossum,
Glad your staff liked it. I'm sure the day to day use will bring interesting ideas, please don't hesitate to post them here for discussion.

About the hiccups:

- The lesson planner:

I'd need some clarification about this, as the Dropbox link does not imply synchronization along different iPads, I'm sure I'm missing something. Are you sure that changes in one iPad reflect directly on others?

- Templates:

Still not , but I know you need it. It is noted in our TODOs and I'll contact you for more details when we're working with it.

- Backups:

Yes, this we had time to include with this release. And I kind of remember it was as per your request!. Under (System)Settings / iDoceo, look for the Dropbox options. the one called 'Backup folder name' will allow you to share a single Dropbox account and create backups for each user.

This is how it works :
For example, you'll have in 'Backup folder name' Mary , in Mary's iPad , and 'Backup folder name' John for John's .... I know it sounds kind of obvious, but I want to make sure it is clear.
When Mary and John , click on Backup in their iDoceos, the shared Dropbox account will contain folders for each and it will store the backups there.
