Major Percent Error? was created by SD1138
Hello,

I sent this question to tech support, but I thought I would also post it here and see if I can get a quicker response.

I hope that I have just done something wrong, otherwise I think I might have uncovered a major bug with percent calculations.

In a tab I am using for Vocabulary Quizzes, I have two scores so far, 21 and 26, for a total of 47 points so far. In the last column I have a Total points column that is set up for calculation-addition with the percent over total addition.

A couple of students have scored perfect on their quizzes and the "Total" column is showing the correct addition (47/47), yet the percentage above that only says 98%. This column is not connected to anything else and the grade type is "From 0 to 100 w/colors).

Is there something that I am not taking into account for the missing 2%? I hope it is just my mistake, otherwise I have to start doubting all the other percentage scores that are being shown.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Shane,
I was about to reply to your e-mail, but here it goes:
I'm guessing it has to do with the grade type assigned to Quizzie One or Two.
Find below a sample of your configuration, you'll probably spot the difference right away, but if not, do let me know.

This is the final result

And this is the configuration, pay special attention to the text shown below each arrow, which should reflect the number of points of each quiz.

Interesting...

Yea, mine looks just like yours, except mine says 98% (47/47)

Can you show me what your individual quiz columns consist of?
Mine are:
Quiz 1 = (Numeric Keypad) (0-21 "custom")
Quiz 2 = (Numeric Keypad) (0-26 "custom")

Total Vocab = (Calculation - addition) (from 0 to 100 w/colors)

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yup, that's weird! We'll find it out.

When you have a chance, import this template here 'Open in' iDoceo and type password: 1111
It should look like this, I've changed the final grade to 0-100 w/ colors

I'll post in the next message the configuration on my side. I'm betting on some rounding issue but let me know first if the template works as expected

Thanks for the update!

I opened it in my app and it seems to work fine. I fooled around with some of the settings to see if I could change it but yours always comes up 100%.

Ah! When I went back to my class I saw the (0-26*) in my Grade Type list and selected that and my classes average now went to 100%. Maybe something happened when I entered in my new numeric grade of that 0-26?

Found it, I compared your new one to my entered one in the grade types. Apparently somehow the maximum grade value was set at 26.50, not 26.00. Every other new value grade was set at **.00 so somehow I must have altered that specific grade value and not known it.

Thanks for the help!! Glad to see it was my mistake, not the app! Still loving all the aspects of it!
