It says iPad Air (3rd generation).
Is that iPad Air 1 or iPad Air 3?

Hi Bert,

We gave up on it last year but now a new year has started. We already are in school for 3 weeks and we are keeping up with the attendance. In a few weeks we need to find out if students have been present for at least 80% of the lessons.

Can you help me setting this up from scratch?
I have the attendance columns working, just need to figure out how to create the calculation bit.

Kind regards,
Dennis

PS: I see I have two accounts for this forum, this is confusing. My apologies, I am Dennis Goedbloed

Did you try to import the template I prepared in the previous page of this post?
If you are working with a fairly recent iPad, drag and drop the template in the list of classes and you will see a working example in your device

Yes Bert, it worked now. Thanks for your help!
Every time I tried over the last year (!) I had trouble importing the file. Eventually I found out it doesn't work trying to drag and drop it from the Google Drive app. This is a limitation from Google's app but it took me a lot of frustration before I figured that one out.

I finally succeeded when I downloaded the file to my mac (laptop) and sent it to the ipad through Airdrop. Upon receiving I was prompted with a menu and chose iDoceo to open it with. From there it was a breeze.

Thanks, after a bit of investigating are these the steps to take?:
  1. In Gradebook, press +
  2. Press the cog icon next to Attendance
  3. Choose which icons to use for Attendance
  4. Press Grade type and change to Attendance Grade Type
  5. Back to Gradebook and press +
  6. Add Folder
  7. Edit folder --> Change fast conversion to percentages (0-100%)
  8. Now, back to gradebook again and use + and add Attendance colomn(s)
  9. Drag attendance columns into folder

Is this correct? In that case I will create a video for other (dutch) teachers.
(I made a few already here on Youtube )

Kind regards and thanks again(!) for your help,
Dennis

Yes Dennis, that is a correct procedure.
A couple of quick notes:

If you use the 'Files' app in your iPad (with Google Drive as a location), instead of the Google Drive app, drag&dropping should work.

Instead of moving the column's location after creating it, you could create all your attendance columns in a specific tab automatically (it is in the attendance cog's preferences) and
move them to a folder later on to speed up the addition of attendance columns.

You can also move columns in bulk from Tools > Columns > Select them > Cut and Paste

Thanks for creating those YouTube videos!

But those are great tips: THANKS!

I will add those as well (might make a separate video on using Files (and Google Drive or OneDrive)) B) they are time savers!

You probably know this already but from Add column > Multiple columns > Attendance you can create all the attendance column for the whole year in bulk
