Seating plan -- empty seats?

Possibly this is a feature request. How about the ability to add a simple geometric shape "placeholder" that would match the current outline (eg. photo & badge) to represent an empty seat.

I've read other suggestions about a "background" of furniture. Unfortunately, this doesn't work so well if one is scrolling the view about.

How how other teachers dealt with this?
