iDoceo Set-up for PE over multiple years

Hello,

I have been using iDoceo for a number of years in my PE classes to track student progress in regards to dominate throwing arm, kicking foot, and a variety of fitness tests. In the past, I have created a new class for each of the 18 classes I teach and painstakingly put every kid into their new class every year. I feel like that is not the correct way to do it. The problem I am having is, I cannot easily look at the progression of a single student across multiple years. Student A is treated as a separate student every year and it requires me remembering what class that student was in back in 2017 for me to look at their results.

This year, we have created a 2020 Master List and put each student in there. There are 170 names. I know I can use the Group function and put these students into their current classes, although there doesn't seem to be a way to look at only these students. Another problem arises here that I don't need the same assessments for every class. The primary school does different assessments than the secondary school.

THEN, I would like to be able to, in 2021, move the students to their new classes and have their data travel with them, rather than create all new students.

THEN, I would like to be able to go back to their old data and copy it to their new profile (this will take time and effort, but that's OK).

So my question is - assuming my rambling makes sense, what's my best way forward to get iDoceo to do what I want?

Much appreciated.

Hello AidanPE

This year, we have created a 2020 Master List and put each student in there. There are 170 names. I know I can use the Group function and put these students into their current classes, although there doesn't seem to be a way to look at only these students. Another problem arises here that I don't need the same assessments for every class. The primary school does different assessments than the secondary school.

The gradebook filter will do just that. You can focus on a single group, combination of students by any criteria.
It is explained in detail here
www.idoceo.net/index.php/en/grade-book-a...ts-in-the-grade-book

You could create different tabs for primary/secondary school but the gradebook is not meant to mix all students together.

THEN, I would like to be able to, in 2021, move the students to their new classes and have their data travel with them, rather than create all new students.

You can copy students to their final classes and their personal details will be transferred. Not their gradebook data automatically though.
You can:
- copy gradebook columns with their data into the new gradebook.
- If results in cells are numeric you can add a simple formula that can merge data from different classes into a single one.
If you need more info on any of these, do let me know

THEN, I would like to be able to go back to their old data and copy it to their new profile (this will take time and effort, but that's OK).

As I mentioned their personal profile is copied to their new class. In addition,
the summary view on each student will let you review previous year's gradebook data
You can select which columns to show in that summary for each year
Here is a screenshot

If I can be of further assistance, do let me know.
