Planner period order displayed is not chronlogical — any way to fix it? was created by mhoye
Hi,
I used iDoceo last year and basically just "paved over" last year's gradebook/planner to type in this year's information for this new school year. I think that as a result of this, my planner view shows the correct grade level periods with the correct times, but they are displayed in the planner view, from top to bottom, in the chronological view of last year's order, although those grade levels happen at different times of the day THIS year than they did last year. (I tried to attach screenshots to this message to illustrate my issue, but unfortunately, the "attachments" link did not seem to work.) Is there any easy way to fix this planner view issue without messing up my "Schedule" view for this year? Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

Hello mhoye,
The row order in the planner does not depend on its start/end times but on the Period you've selected.
Those Periods are listed in Settings > Planner and by default they are numbered from 1 to 20. That is the order in which they are shown.
I'm afraid there isn't an easy way to change your current order in the Planner. You should edit the names of your periods, to know which comes first. And then long tap on your time slots > Period to assign the right one.

In other words, in the Planner pane of the Settings menu, can I safely rename the Periods to reflect THIS year's order of grade-level classes? (Right now, the Planner pane in the Settings menu shows LAST year's order of grade-level classes.) Will changing that order in the Planner pane consequently mess up the Schedule view I have, which right now DOES reflect this year's order of grade-level classes? Please advise. Thanks.

And if you could possibly clarify your suggestion: "And then long tap on your time slots > Period to assign the right one." I wasn't sure what a "long tap" is — and where exactly are the "time slots > Period" located? Sorry I'm kind of dense on those point. Thanks for your help.

And as an added illustration...
I went ahead and updated the order of periods in the Planner pane of the Settings menu. (See one of the attached screenshots.) By doing this, I then found that in the actual Planner view (see the appropriate screenshot) the "sideways captions" on the left-hand margin of the page now MATCH the Planner pane in Settings. However, the color-coded order of classes in that same Planner view still do not agree with those sideways captions. The remaining screenshot I've attached shows the Schedule view for the same week that was included in the Planner view screenshot.
So is there any possible way for me to correct the Planner view so the actual color-coded sections match the order of the sideways captions? I know that I may be beating a dead horse (sorry for the graphic simile) — and I can undoubtedly live with the wacky listed order in Planner view if I have to (since the correct times are listed on the color-coded labels) — but it'd be great if I could fix that somehow. Again, please advise. Thanks!

Sure, let me clarify it a bit.
The sideway captions will always match the planner settings. There is no way around it and it does not depend on any start/end time, class configuration or any other option. It will always appear in this very same order.
Here is an image
The schedule will show your classes according to its start/end times.
The color of a particular slot in either planner or schedule depends on the color assigned to that particular class (from the list of classes, edit one > Color ) or from the schedule > long tap on a class > Color.
The color does not depend on any other parameter but the class assigned to it. The same class will always have the same color.
The planner shows classes in rows. Period 1 shows classes in row 1, Period 2 shows classes in row 2 and so on. The row position in the planner only depends on this Period and not on start/end times.
Here a couple of images of the same class shown in the schedule and planner
And a long tap or tap and hold is the gesture you must do to see all the additional options on any view in iDoceo. The schedule, planner gradebook, a student, cell, column, etc.

In the previous images, a long tap on the pink class > Edit will let you change the Period/Row for that particular class.
I hope it makes more sense now.
