How to Create a Score Column

Image
You have to create the columns of each Area that you are going to score.
In the video on the left you can see how to create the first column Reading Comprehension, select for this column a grade type of 15 points. Repeat this for the rest of the columns, assigning the desired points in each one.

How to create a category and insert its columns

Once the area columns are created, you have to create the Category where the areas belong, in this case Reading Wuthering Heights, as you can see in the video on the right.
In this Category we assign a grade type of 60 points and the Calculation as Total points grading.
Once all of this is done, drag and drop its Area Columns inside, and you are done.

Repead the process for all the other Categories.

To obtain the final grade of this class we will create a Calculation Column configured with 100 points, and a Quick conversion to text US Grades A+F
Go to Add columns > add calculation > Select  Weighted Average.
This calculation  will allow you to assign different weights to each category as desired.
The grade type is setup to a 100 points, so we have a percentage of the final score, and with Quick conversion we obtain the Final Grade, in this example US Grades A-F.

Now, Edit the Column > tap on Weighted Average > select the categories to be included in it.  The video below on the left details the process.

Extra points column

Inside any Category it is posible to add an Extra Points column, this column will allow to add extra points to any desired student without worsening the results other students.

If one student has no extra points , the column leaves its corresponding cell empty or with a zero otherwise insert in it the extra points awarded.

To do that, just create a normal grade column but with generic grade to 0 points that will do the trick.
