Hello. First time on the forum, so I hope that what I am about to ask makes sense, and someone can help me.

I have created a gradebook where I have a Folder (Responding) and within this folder I have 5 sub folders (Please see attached picture), And subsub folders within these. I have a formula within each of the sub folders that creates a value from the sub sub folder, and I get a score. Within the main (Responding) Folder, I have a formula that gives me a total from the sub folders. I now need to create a new column with the A-F grade, based on the value in the Responding Folder. However when I add a weighted average and select the folder it returns a 0 result. (Sorry this make much more sense in my head :silly: )

I am really hoping that someone can help me

Let's focus first on the formulas you are using. There is an easier way to configure it other than a formula. but let's keep them if you are familiar with that.

On this folder, Q1b and 1B. What kind of score do you have on each. Are they based on 100 points?

if these were based on 100 points, that they would be 50 each

Ok, but with iDoceo you do not have to worry about assigning that weight in each folder with a formula. You only have to worry about assigning the score/grade type on each column and the weighting is done afterwards.
You could add a third category afterwards and all the folders inside would not need to be changed at all.

Let's keep focussing on this A blue folder.
Double tap on the header > Grade type > and set here the Numeric grade (Generic) and type
the max points that could be achieved with the formula.
Then in the same column properties > Quick conversion > A to F

Done, would I be correct in saying 100 for the max points?

It depends on what kind of scores you will be inserting in Q1b and 'Added responses in 1b'
This score is what iDoceo understands as 100% success.
If Q1b and 1b are only 10 points each for example, the 100% success would be 50 (as per your formula)
It is only a matter of knowing what kind of score/grade you will be using in your gradebook

For instance, what is Q1b all correct. Is it a score out of a test?

ok, so overall within the responding tab, Blue A is worth 5 points so Q1b and the added response would each be 2.5. How would I add that?

For the blue folder:
Double tap on header: (Column properties )
Calculation > Weighted average (equal weights)
Grade type Result > Generic 5. This will yield a result out of 5

If Q1b and 1b are scores out of 2.5: Double tap on each header > Grade type > Generic 2.5

PS: Q1b and 1b do not have to add 5 for this to work. They could be scores out of 1000 and 2000. The folder will still yield a result out of 5. The main thing is for each column to 'know' the kind of values it will hold.

Great. I've seen you've selected 'Counter' as the column's cell editor inside this blue folder
This will let you add points with a double tap on the cell but I'm not sure if this is the way you'd like to work. If you change the cell editor to automatic it will be a Keypad which may be faster to use.

So I changed that, now would I apply the same to the other sub tabs?

Would I be able to change the grade value in the Blue Tab, because if I remove a value, leaving the score of 2.5, the grade is an E (technically for this tab the grade should be a C)

It depends on the percentages assigned in the A to F.
2.5 out of 5 is 50% and in the current configuration it is an E

You can change these percentages in Menu > Grade type > Text grades A to F
or if you let me know how that C should be calculated I'll look into it
