Subtracting one column from another... was created by Brett Huckstep
Hi there, first off thanks for all the work on this great app, it's developing really nicely!
In a grade book I have a column which lists a student's target grade. I have several other columns giving various performance in single tests. I have an average of these tests and an overall grade but... Is it possible to take their current average mark away from their target grade?

We are always being asked to report on how far off their target grade a student is. I haven't seen a way of subtracting columns, only of averaging them. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks,
Brett

Ok... I managed to work this out. By weighting one column to -100 and the second to 100 it did the trick but now I have another problem...

Is there a way of copying over the calculated columns to another class? It will copy over the structure and formatting but the little calculator icons are missing and when I enter raw data it doesn't do the calculation. I have several classes that use the same grading system and it would take ages to manually go through and re-do the calculated columns, is there a way around this?

Thanks again!

Brett

Edit: Actually, when I try copy and pasting even within the same sheet the little calculator doesn't paste in. Is there a setting I need to set to enable copying of functions/calculations? Cheers.

Hi Brett,
You can copy a class' structure from the chalkboard, tap&hold on a class, then copy. But it won't allow you to do it on a preexisting class. Once you have that empty class, then you can transfer your students. I've sent you a message with further details
