Average column updating was created by davocon
I am just starting to use this software and I find it excellent, although I'm finding it tricky to find out how to use all the features without a manual.
I have worked out how to make an average column, however I have a question.
I have a sheet for homework marks which I will constantly add to and want to have an average column for each students marks. I can have one for currently completed homework columns, but when I add a new column for a new homework, it is not included in the average calculation so I need to amend the averaging calculation to include the new column. Is there a way for this to happen automatically like in a spreadsheet or do I have to amend the formula every time I add a column?
Sorry I put this in the wrong forum initially!

Welcome to iDoceo davocon,
In the current version formulas aren't updated automatically with new columns, but as an alternative you can create all (expected) homework columns at once (you can copy them from the tools icon on the topbar) and then in the calculation, enable the 'Skip Empty cell' option.
This will take into account for that average only filled columns and you won't have to update the formulas each time.
Hope that helps!
Kind regards

About that manual ... we're continuously updating the web but it is difficult to keep up with the constant new features, please don't hesitate to post your questions here.

That's a good idea, thank you!
What a great fast response! Even better than a manual!
2 more questions -
I've worked out how to count a row of icons if the cell only contains the icon and is set to the right data type. But I was wondering, I'd like to add an icon, like a late symbol to a homework mark in the same cell, which I can do, but is there any way to count these for each student.
And what does the icon to the left of the change font size icon do? The one with an edit pencil and arrows pointing left right or down.

Counting is something we'll have in our next major update , it will take some time though!
_ Here the original request in case you want to add something to the thread

The edit pencil icon is used to select the Editing direction.
By default it is set Down, meaning that after editing a cell it will automatically edit the next one below (if empty) until none left in that column.
Depending on the task, you may need to edit right, all columns for a student ,for example.
